Frequently Asked Questions
Right where you are today, exploring, wondering, questioning and digesting the possibilities of online – we have been there! Our family started the same way, but we didn’t have YouTube or the wealth of information (or distractions) that are available today.
The most important thing you can consider is that we know what you feel, the fears, the overwhelming distractions by all the people that claim to be pure ecommerce experts. Unlike others, we won’t wait for money to change hands to help. This website is full of free information and if we can point you in the direction that is somewhere other than us and its in your best interest – we will.
Our goal is not money – we have made that already. Our goal is to help you identify what you want and point out the most efficient way to get there in the ecommerce field. And more importantly to side step the myriad of land-mines of ventures and problems you might get into without our help. We have a moral obligation to that end and the big box subscription businesses don’t like us for that.

Yes! There are many options to make money online, from affiliate marketing, domain sales, content, and running an ecommerce store selling goods or services. Ecommerce is defined as commercial transactions conducted electronically on the internet. A more detailed explanation is is the buying and selling of goods and/or services, or the sending of money or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet.
This question comes up often! Think about your cell/mobile phone. If you never used one before and someone handed it to you and explained all the different things you could do with it, it would seem overwhelming, right? Same with running an online business, you are just looking at it like a mobile phone that you’ve never touched before.

When we started online everybody said that America online would crush all competition. Then it became eBay, then it was Craigslist, now it’s Amazon and chewy and all the different competitors out there. Guess what? We are still here and making a great living online, despite all the deep-pocketed competitors.
Competition does not matter for the strategic business owner. And you are on one of the most strategic online platforms to coach you along the way.
Some list and sell their websites directly on their website. We do not do that, why? We want to make absolutely certain that this is a good fit for us as well. We only want to work with somebody who we believe will succeed, so it starts with a telephone call and a brief conversation about where you want to go and who you are. And then if it’s a good fit we can work with you.
Remember, anyone can do what we have done successfully online. But it does take a certain thinking process and ability to overcome mind blocking thoughts to succeed. We hope you are right for a Pro Ecommerce solution!
Online is very powerful, from our perspective. We have lived and breathed it for over 25 years. If you new to online, you may want to approach it as side income, part-time income or secondary income. But you have to be committed to this secondary income – treat it seriously and give it the necessary attention.
There are 24 hours in a day – you can create a full-time income (second income) while holding down a full-time job. You just need to set aside all the extra stuff.
When you run an e-commerce store selling products or even information for that matter, you give people access to the products or information after they have paid for it. As part of our training, we will help you select the payment method that is best suited for your type of online business. Some may use PayPal, Square, or other types of credit card processing services.
Set up is fairly straightforward and not as complicated as you think. But we will cross that bridge when we get there.
What’s an e-commerce store for example if a customer orders some products, they pay for the products today, you get the money usually the same day and you ship the products the same day. So if you sell $100 worth of merchandise you might make $50 in net profit.
If you purchase a ProBuilt Ready2Go Website, you can be up and running the same 24 hours. There are some steps that require customizing to your choice, phone number, mailing address, etc., but we walk you through all those steps. Most of those steps can be done in 7-10 days.
Choosing a Custom Built site can take 2-4 weeks.
This is a question that we get asked a great deal so we have written “The 11 things to consider about a website”.
You can get it by signing up the form below. This will help narrow down what to consider when looking at a website. There are many, many factors to consider that make a website, Great, Good or downright shady.
Shopify started in 2006, Wix in 2006, Squarespace in 2004.
It’s important to note that the founders of ProEcommerce got their start online in 1994 and have been solely focused on this industry since then. There are generations of new start ups that do this or that, and they get funding and become popular, but does that make that the choice? No.
There are many, many choices for doing things wrong – we choose a unique approach. Remember, if anyone can do it (think free store builders), you will never unique.
Sure, you can fail at anything even getting out of bed in the morning. You could have failed to learn to walk, to learn to read or write, to make a friend or graduate. Some of you may have failed at something, but did it kill you?
No.
Failure is part of learning and the sooner you get that en-grained in who you are the faster you will succeed. If you have failed, use it as a badge of honor, to yourself. No matter how bad the failure, you MUST reference it as a lesson learned, something that made you stand up a little taller.
When I was on the diving team in high school, a diver friend hit his head on the board after doing a flip. He was bleeding pretty bad but the instructor made him dive again, immediately. We were all a little shocked and concerned and he could tell. After our teammate dove successfully and the instructor attended to his wound, he explained why. If he would not have dove immediately and successfully, he would probably never, ever dive again out of fear.
It made perfect sense and that stuck with me all these years.
Do not allow a past failure keep you from taking immediate action and more importantly don’t let the concern of failure prevent you from taking any action…
No, never. We have a running mantra around here. Social networking should never be a leg holding up your table. It can be a nice looking and essential decanter on your table, but never, ever make it a leg in your table.
Don’t get me wrong, you can make a fortune on social networking like Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, YouTube, etc. But that fortune can disappear overnight, when they make the decision to change things.
How do we say this without being offensive? You get what you pay for and you pay for what you get cheap.
We hear this alot! Remember, your friends and family are going to always say something negative about a dream, venture or business you are considering. Why? They are trying to protect you from disappointment, hurt or disaster.
I think this is one of the most damaging things that prevents people from taking action, making decisions and moving forward with dreams or life plans. Put the decision for these things in your lap or you and your spouse’s lap. Make decisions and live the life of decision makers.
Another common question. Most people don’t realize that there are only 8-18 different ways to organize a website (an ecommerce store selling products). Those variations would make the store unique. So if you build 19 stores, one of them is going to be laid out similar. Cookie cutter is the name assigned to it.
In answering this question, I was curious what the internet had to say about it and this was an answer I found:
In the web industry, a cookie cutter website is a term given to a site that has been pre made. The site has been pre-designed and pre-built for people to ‘just add content’ and launch their website in no time. Whilst this sounds like a good idea, it can stunt online growth and cost businesses more money and time.
No whoever published that got it half right and half way wrong. Cookie cutter, perhaps, but bad, how can it be. Not sure how it could be bad at all. While we don’t create cookie cutter websites, we do custom designs and graphics and try to make everything we build 100% unique on the internet. That includes domain name, slogan, calls to action, colors, etc.
Focusing on the word “cookie cutter” is like looking at a vehicle and calling it a pollution machine. Does it pollute, sure but what is its real function and how can we keep the pollution down?
ProEcommerce only chooses select areas online.
While there is a long list of things that make an online venture attractive, here are a few. First, it must be a broad based market – something many, many people will want. Think pet supplies.
Second, no inventory should be required.
If a majority of the industry requires you to purchase case quantities of products where customers only buy one of a product, that is a field we stay away from.
Third, the supplier must ship quickly to the customer.
Golf equipment for example, most won’t ship for weeks…that is a failed venture (or much harder in our opinion).
While there are many criteria that we follow, it is safe to know that we pick fields that are profitable and worth choosing. Start here to begin.
- Online runs 24/7, 365 days a year.
- It earns money, literally while you sleep.
- Nationwide or worldwide market.
- Exciting to be in the tech business, fun to tell others you own a tech company, lots of oohs and ahhs.
- Great feeling to meet the needs of people.
- Fun to build relationships with customers all over the nation.
- True freedom.
- No more 9 – 5 modern day slavery schedules.
- No more commuting and traffic.
- Run it from home, boat while camping or traveling.
- Social distancing by default.
- Great income if done correctly!
- No inventory to carry
- No business, leases, signage permits or expenses of a traditional brick and mortar.
- You cannot get laid off or fired.
- A business that easily transfers to your family members when you are gone and doesn’t require your presence.
- Much more free time – set your own schedule.
- You become your own boss!
True, there are many, many options for a website.
But, over the years we have reviewed many of them. For example, we reviewed a guy in Florida who builds and sells websites, who was sued for copying other people’s content and using it to sell his own “custom built” websites.
Additionally, there are big companies that sell “turnkey solutions” or claim to be “ecommerce” companies. Read the reviews, do you research and ask this question.
Is the person or business selling this website online and making money online today?
Why do you want to ask that? Because this is an ever-changing landscape and unless you are in the game, operating online and making money online, you cannot possibly be a professional expert.
We operate an online store and have for 28+ years.
And what we build is our content. Avoid those scams!
If you had a professional coach working with you that has done this for 28+ years, what would that be worth you? $100,000? $50,000? $10,000? Surely $10,000, at that rate it would pay back in one month right?
Listen folks, it doesn’t take a degree or specialized training to do what our family has already done online.
It takes a desire to change, the proper strategy, and then the ability to execute and take action. That’s it.
We all have the same exact amount of time, seconds in minutes in years. It’s ticking away right now as you read this. You are getting closer to death and you have the power to change your life and make decisions right now. Asking this type of question is nothing more than finding a reason not to take action.
A franchise is certainly a way to succeed in business. It gives you a great blueprint to follow that a company has already established as a way to do business and penetrate the market.
But with a franchise you also have a very rigid framework to follow and you cannot deviate from that at all. So if you see an opportunity in your specific market and you want to add or change the approach, you simply cannot. And you will always pay them between 6 and 12% of your profits.
Well the franchise is a good opportunity for some people, it is never been a serious consideration for us. We value the freedom of flexibility and believe that the definition of entrepreneurship is freedom.
There are many buzzwords that people have used over the years, dropship, turnkey, internet in a box, etc.
Turnkey is basically a website that is built, setup, ready to go so someone can put the key in and drive the vehicle. Yes, this is a turnkey solution but we go a bit past that definition.
Some businesses offer turnkey business models that are half populated with data or have sample data setup. They want you to pay them more to setup the rest after the initial purchase. We don’t do that.
Our “turnkey” store is a fully finished ready to go store.
Now, no matter where you buy a website, you still will have things to do like the car analogy, (open the door), (turn on the lights), (put a seatbelt on), etc. Here, you will have to update some items on the store like phone, address, etc. But for the most part, yes, it does qualify as a turnkey operation.
The majority of the cost of running a website is building the website finding the graphics and creating the contact, help pages and importing the data and images. All of that is done.
There will always be secondary smaller expenses, for example every year you have to renew your domain name for about $15. If you want to have an automated data feed to keep your data updated that can cost between $75 and $150 a month but that is completely optional and you can turn it on when you’re ready.
And everyone who has a website for the most part, pays hosting. It’s like rent for your website and that can cost between 19 and $29 a month.
If you choose to use a commercial mailing address like UPS shipping center, that can cost about $15 a month. We will show you how to get a free phone number as well as free marketing material and little or no cost credit card processing set up.
Possibly, yes. We say possibly because if we know you will fail at it we probably won’t take your money to encourage a failure. Remember, our interests are that you succeed online.
But if we agree to build a website for you, you can expect a professional walk-through discussion and planning stage, a build stage in about 2-4 weeks and a launch stage where we work with you.
Inquire by clicking the Custom Builds link here.
We will train you step-by-step. You become part of our ProEcommerce family and family is well cared for. Additionally, we plan on keeping up with the technology and all the changes so you should too and you do that by keeping in touch with us.
We offer lifetime support to anybody who purchases a website from us, you will not find this type of support anywhere else.
Liability is best covered by the Terms of Use of a website, also called the Conditions of use or Terms of Service. This lays out the liability for the store. Courts have routinely upheld that if you shop at an online store, you agree to those terms and are governed by them. Our terms have a clause that says in the event of any liability, the amount liable cannot exceed the amount paid on the visit to the store. That is even IF there is a liability.
Regarding RISK, there is risk in everything we do.
Do you have a mortgage, car payment or credit card debt? Those are huge risks that we don’t have, you were betting on your ability to earn income and you have things based on that bed. Now you have to do the other part of the equation to make the great income to eliminate those risks. You’re smart enough to make this happen instead of smart people making risky that happen in life!
We hope that sinks in, you must become passionate about being in control of your life and while risk is a part of life you just have to manage it. You are already doing that with much much riskier things.
There is NO risk in doing nothing. Equally, there is zero risk in learning, Start here!
Yes! You will have full editorial control over your website. You can add products, remove products and add and change graphics or anything on the website. We have some great tutorials to do that.
You can run your website from the phone or a tablet, a computer or a Mac. Do you have ultimate flexibility with an e-commerce website. You won’t need any fancy equipment or a fax machine or things like that. Just a simple computer and an Internet connection.
We believe that if you teach someone to fish its better in the long term than just handing them a fish. We show you how and give you access to all the tools needed to keep the store updated on your own! Why pay someone else to do that?
Everything we build, we build with SEO in mind. Since this is an important part to your long-term success online, we build the features and functions into the store that make the store attractive to search engines. That will send you a great deal of free traffic.
When you take over ownership, there are some steps that we walk you through that you will want to change to match your focus. It will teach you a great deal and allow you to quick learn the essentials of the SEO process.
No! We do not recommend the use of toll-free lines.
Consequently, there are companies out there who claim to be ecommerce experts that tell you that you must use a toll-free line. That is hogwash. More importantly, its expensive and completely unnecessary.
Toll-free lines were originally set up as people had to make expensive long-distance calls.
With most people using mobile phones, that is a thing of the past. While toll-free numbers allow you to track the phone number of everyone who calls you (they cannot hide their number) that is just not necessary.
And most toll-free numbers have been used for generations by various companies which will cost you money in the long wrong since you pay per minute to use a toll-free number.
